Sophia Bardunias Named Patriot League Golfer of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Sophia Bardunias is off to a terrific start to her college golf career, and after back-to-back top-six finishes last week, she was selected as the Patriot League Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
Bardunias led the way in a record-setting performance earlier this week at Youngstown State's Roseann Schwartz Invitational. She carded back-to-back even-par 72s, and her 144 total was good for a solo fourth-place finish. Bardunias was one of only four players in the field of 86 who finished at even-par or better.
Monday's final-round 72 helped the Bison compile a 295 team score, which was the best in relation to par (+7) and the second-best overall mark in team history. The 596 36-hole score was likewise the best ever in relation to par and No. 2 overall. The Bison finished in third place in a field of 13 teams at Mill Creek GC.
Bucknell's third-place finish at the Battle at the Creek on Sept. 16-17 also fell within this awards cycle, and Bardunias placed sixth in that event with rounds of 79-76-82 at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
In eight collegiate rounds, Bardunias has compiled an average of 76.1, which is second-best on the squad.
The Bison have finished third in each of their first three tournaments of the season, and they will be back in action on Oct. 7-8 at the Red Flash Invitational at Sunnehanna Country Club.
