About the Bison
- Bucknell's busy September schedule continues this weekend in Ohio, as the Bison will be headed to their third tournament in as many weeks.
- The Bison have already posted a pair of third-place finishes, first at the Bucknell Invitational on Sept. 6-8 and then this past Monday and Tuesday at the Battle at the Creek at Rehoboth Beach.
- Bucknell had the lead after each of the first two rounds at Rehoboth before dipping to a tie for third in the end. The Bison posted scores of 309-317-333, but with only four players in the lineup they did not have the luxury of dropping the lowest score.
- Freshman Sophia Bardunias was the low Bison last week, shooting 79-76-82 to finish in sixth place. Paige Richter was T-10th with rounds of 75-80-84.
- Bardunias earned the No. 1 spot for this week's event at Youngstown State, and she will be joined by Nicole Yun, Katrina von Behren, Tara Thomas, and Lila Smith. Bucknell's Sunday tee times start at 10:33 a.m., and the Bison will be paired with Detroit Mercy and Indiana State.
- Yun led the way with a seventh-place finish at the Bucknell Invitational, and her 74.0 average leads the team.
- This will be Bucknell's third appearance in Youngstown State's fall tournament, with the others coming in 2021 and 2023.
- Bucknell played well here last year, finishing fourth out of 10 teams as former Bison Sofia Nogalo shared the individual title after birdieing three of her final five holes. Bucknell posted 306-309 for a 36-hole total of 615. Youngstown State won it with a 599.
- Nicole Yun (76-83) and Tara Thomas (85-85) are the only two Bison who played here last year that will be back in the lineup this week. Thomas also played in the 2021 event, shooting 77-78.
- The Bison finished eighth out of 14 teams three years ago with rounds of 315-316. Tatum McKelvey led the squad with a T-18th finish with rounds of 80-74.
- The event is named in honor of Roseann Schwartz, who was YSU's women's golf coach from 1996 until 2013. Schwartz led the Penguins to 33 tournament victories and two Horizon League titles during her tenure. She was inducted into the YSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021.
- Bucknell returns to action on Oct. 7-8 at the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pa.
