RESULTS
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – After posting the best score in the field in each of the first two rounds, the Bucknell women's golf team struggled on the final day of the Battle at The Creek and dropped into a tie for third place in the team standings. The Bison closed with a 333 on Tuesday after posting 309-317 on Monday, and Mount St. Mary's used a strong final round to come from behind and take the team title.
The Bison were at a disadvantage with only four players in the lineup this week, meaning they did not have the luxury of dropping their highest score. Bucknell totaled 959 over 54 holes, which was four behind The Mount and one behind second-place Monmouth. Tournament host Sacred Heart also finished at 959, with fifth-place Delaware State farther back at 972.
Bucknell's two best scores of the day came from its two freshmen, with Sophia Bardunias carding 82 and Katrina von Behren 83. Paige Richter and Tara Thomas both shot 84.
Sacred Heart's Maya Robilio shot 227 (74-77-76) to claim medalist honors by seven shots over Monmouth's Brooke Bothwell and Mount St. Mary's Makensy Knaub. Bardunias was Bucknell's highest finisher, placing sixth at 237 (79-76-82). Richter also finished in the top 10 (T-10th) at 239 (75-80-84).
The Bison are back in action this Sunday and Monday at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State at Mill Creek GC.
