TYRONE, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison men's cross country team opened the 2024 season with a second-place finish at the Father Bede Invitational. Donner's Debriefing
"We ran five freshmen and two sophomores today. Some of our freshmen went out way too fast and we may have paid a deep price. I'm very pleased with Ethan Pratt-Perez and Andrew Young. They were able to hang in there well after a fast start. Same with David Carillo and Danny Wuenschel. They hung in there on lap three of the 2k loop. That is not an uncommon mistake for freshmen. They will learn, especially when we get to the 8-10k distances."
Recap
Pratt-Perez christened his Bucknell and collegiate debut with a third place finish, as the highest freshman and underclassman runner. The freshman ran 19:07.90, finishing only five seconds out of first. Both runners ahead of him were seniors.Â
Young placed seventh on a time of 19:28.80. It was an excellent debut for the rookie runner.Â
Carillo was one spot behind him in eighth place, with a time of 19:41.40.Â
Wuenschel's time of 19:49.30 ensured four Bison runners placed in the top ten. The newcomer grabbed tenth place on a tiebreaker with a Duquesne racer.Â
Sophomore Mason Barlow completed the Bison scorers by finishing 21st. Barlow ran for 20:31.70.Â
Up Next
The Bison head to the Lafayette Invitational on Friday. The same course will be used at the 2024 Patriot League Championships.Â
