Bucknell Women’s Soccer Match at George Washington Halted Due to Weather

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bucknell-George Washington women's soccer match was abandoned late in the first half due to heavy thunderstorms that enveloped the Washington, D.C., area on Thursday afternoon. The game was tied at 1-1 when it was halted with 11:57 remaining in the first half, and it was called off after a delay of more than two hours. The result and statistics will not count.

Teresa Deda gave the Bison a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, scoring what would have been her fourth goal of the season. The build-up came from a Katie Schiano throw-in. Paige Temple popped a high ball into the GW box, Henna Andican was first to it, and she laid a pass off to Deda for a left-footed finish.

The Revolutionaries equalized only 58 seconds later. Alexa Meinen found a seam in the Bison back line and Alicia Window took a touch around goalkeeper Jess Benattar and scored from a sharp angle on the left side.

Deda almost made it a brace after some great ball skills in the box, but her close-range shot was turned aside by keeper Ainsley Lumpe.

The Bison are back in action on Sunday at Monmouth. The 3 p.m. contest will be streamed on FloSports.
