LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's track & field team demonstrated its athletic success this past season. The squad displayed its academic side by placing three student-athletes on the All-Patriot League Academic Team. Abby Eisold, Abby Kates, and Meghan Quinn multiplied their athletic triumphs with academic heights. Kates and Quinn are repeat winners from the indoor season and Quinn received a spot on the 2023 Outdoor squad.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Eisold, a Biomedical Engineering major, designed a picture-perfect ending to her Bison career by winning silver in the heptathlon at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. She finished with 4943 points. She set personal bests in five of the seven events. Eisold broke the 41-year-old record of Lonnie Fertik, who had 4816 points. It was the oldest record for the Bison women.
Kates, a Markets, Innovation & Design major, headlined a fourth-place finish in the high jump at the Outdoor Championships to conclude her Bucknell tenure. Kates completes her career ranking tied for second (5-7 ¾) in Bison history for the event. She was recently profiled in Bucknell's Tales from the Herd series for her work with BizPitch.
Quinn, a Psychology major, finalized her career as one of Bucknell's fleetest sprinters by winning and setting the meet record in the 200-meter dash at the Outdoor Championships. The Warwick Winmaker collected nine school records and 27 wins during her illustrious reign.
The three seniors will graduate this weekend and continue their success in the broader world.
