Women's Tennis Fall to Lehigh in Home Finale, 6-1

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team's home schedule came to a close on Sunday with a 6-1 loss to Lehigh. Abby Platt picked up Bucknell's lone point with a win at third singles, and she joined Whitney King in a doubles victory on court one, but the Mountain Hawks came out on top in a series of narrow matches. Lehigh improved to 13-5 (4-2 PL) with the win, while Bucknell fell to 8-12 (0-5 PL).
The Bison took the Mountain Hawks to three sets in four of six singles matches, and two of the doubles matches saw the two teams tied at five games each. King and Platt prevailed in one of those doubles matches, defeating Lehigh's number one tandem of Allyce Gaborik and Maggie Forkner, 7-5. The Mountain Hawks went on to win 6-4 on court two and 7-5 on court three to take the doubles point.
Platt later defeated Gaborik 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (2) at third singles to get the Bison on the board. The sophomore improved to a team-best 17-7 record with the win.
King, Anna Lajos and Mirra Manolov each won the first sets in their respective singles matches before dropping the last two.
Lehigh won on court five, court four and court one in succession to clinch the dual at 4-0, while Platt and Gaborik were the last to finish to get Bucknell on the board.
The Bison see their final regular-season competitions this week before the Patriot League Tournament begins on Thursday, April 18. The Bison travel to Lafayette on Thursday, April 11 before visiting Loyola on Saturday, April 13 for the regular-season finale.
