
Women's Water Polo Finishes 6th at CWPA Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Bucknell's women's water polo team concluded its 2024 season with a 12-6 loss to Saint Francis, and the Bison finished in sixth place at the CWPA Championship at Harvard's Blodgett Pool.Â

Saint Francis seized an early advantage and maintained their momentum throughout the game, embarking on a 3-1 scoring spree in the first half against the Bison. Key contributions came from junior Kayla Rhodes and sophomore Caylah Olay, who netted a pair of goals each for the Red Flash. Bucknell broke their silence with a goal from junior Izzy Lippolis.
In the second quarter, Bucknell surged back as freshman Campbell Collins unleashed a shot that found the mark, narrowing the gap to just one goal. However, Saint Francis responded with a three-goal streak before senior Isabelle Monaghan notched one for the Bison. Monaghan then secured two more goals to complete a hat trick.
Despite a spirited effort, Bucknell struggled to find the net again until the fourth quarter, when sophomore Gwen Kallmeyer scored the team's sixth and final goal.Â
