Eisold Sits Third in the Heptathlon After First Day of the Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's track & field team opened Day One of the Bison Outdoor Classic by selecting two athletes, Abby Eisold and Allison Flaherty for the heptathlon. The blue heptathlon and orange heptathlon were the only women's events held. Four of the seven events were contested today and the remaining three will be competed tomorrow morning. Both Eisold and Flaherty competed in the blue heptathlon.

Eisold, who holds fifth in Bucknell history for the event, sits third after the first day of competition. Eisold's 2917 points are only 45 away from the current leader. The senior multi-event athlete used a balanced effort to remain in the top three. She placed second in the high jump (5-4 ½), third in the 100-meter hurdles (15.00) and shot put (32-11), and fourth in the 200-meter dash (26.42). Eisold will seek to make up the difference in the long jump, javelin throw, and the 800-meter run.

Flaherty sits in tenth place with 2289 points. The sophomore finished ninth in the high jump (4-8 ¼), 100-meter hurdles (16.43), and shot put (29-4 ¾). She placed tenth in the 200-meter dash (28.12).

The Bison Outdoor Classic resumes tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
