Women's Water Polo Ventures to the West Coast

LEWISBURG, Pa. -The Bucknell women's water polo team is traveling to California to kick off a week of matches. Their first opponent on this West Coast expedition is Pomona-Pitzer from Claremont, California.

It's been nearly five years since these two teams last faced off, with Bucknell's record of six wins and four losses against Pomona-Pitzer.
The last time Bucknell and Pomona-Pitzer played each other was in March 2019. The Bison pulled away with a two-point lead to secure the win over the Sagehens. Colleen Barron's impressive performance, netting four goals, including the pivotal game-winner in the closing period, propelled the Bison to a thrilling 11-10 victory at Haldeman Pool. Adding to the triumph, Shyla Lintz also showcased her skill with four goals, while Gigi Rojahn, Tegan Stanbach, and Sarah Mooney each contributed one goal, ensuring a well-rounded effort. With this win, the Bison's season record improved to 10-10, maintaining an undefeated streak whenever reaching double-digit scores.
Entering the match with a recent streak of four wins in their last five games, Pomona-Pitzer seized the initiative by scoring the game's opening goal in the first period. The teams then exchanged goals throughout the second period, resulting in a deadlock at 5-5 as they headed into halftime.
Emily Konishi handed out a team-high three assists, helping the Bison snap a two-game losing streak to the Sagehens.
