Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell seeks its first Patriot League win of the season when it challenges Colgate this weekend. The Bison are 8-9 (0-2 PL) on the season.
• The Bison are coming off back-to-back losses last weekend. On Saturday, Bucknell suffered a narrow 4-3 loss to Atlantic 10 opponent Duquesne at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Bison jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking two of three in doubles, but Duquesne won four straight singles matches to clinch the dual. Mirra Manolov and Tori Allen posted wins on courts five and six to end the day. Navy, the reigning Patriot League champion, then swept the doubles point and took five of six in singles in a 6-1 win over the Bison on Sunday. Tyne Miller got the Bison on the board with a win at fourth singles.
• Whitney King and Abby Platt posted their 20th doubles win of the season on Saturday. It's both King and Platt's second 20-win season, as King eclipsed the mark in 2022 and Platt last year. The pair dropped their first Patriot League doubles match loss in two years against Navy on Sunday. King became the 10th Bison in program history to reach 60 career doubles wins, and Platt is at 40 wins in her career.
• King and Platt are also tied for the team lead in singles victories with 15 each. King has played all but two duals at first singles and is 9-6 in that spot. Anna Lajos (13) and Allen (12) have also eclipsed double-digit singles wins.
• The Bison face exclusively Patriot League teams in their final five duals before the Patriot League Championships begin April 18. They went 8-7 against non-league foes this year.
• Bucknell finished the 2022-23 campaign 13-13 (4-3 PL) and reached the Patriot League semifinal round for a second time under head coach Tammy Cecchini. The Bison defeated Colgate 4-0 in the quarterfinals for the program's 500th all-time victory in what was the 50th season of Bucknell women's tennis. At the end of the year, King was named to the All-Patriot League First Team and the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
• Bucknell returned all eight members of last spring's roster and added two newcomers: Allen and Jaycie Mair. The roster is comprised of three seniors, three juniors, two sophomores and the two rookies.
• Seniors Miller, Kate Novak and Madi Sebulsky are serving as team captains this season.
• Cecchini is in her fifth year leading the Bison. She owns a 44-40 record since arriving in Lewisburg.
