Track & Field Commences Outdoor Season at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Freshly rested after a grueling indoor campaign, the Bucknell Bison men's track & field team prepares to hit the outdoor season like a locomotive. A select group of athletes are heading to Florida to compete at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational.Â

Last Time Out (IC4A Championships)
- The Bison totaled 30 points to place ninth. The squadron set one school record and claimed a top-five spot in the Orange & Blue annals.
- Bucknell's headliner was the 4x800-meter relay team of Alex Simpson, John Byrnes, Zachary Jelinek, and Colby Belczyk storming past the competition. Their time of 7:28.08 was 1.57 seconds faster than the silver-winning team, and it set the school record for the event. Their efforts scored ten points for Bucknell and won All-East laurels.
- Belczyk led the Bison individual efforts by winning the 500-meter run and All-East honors. The junior runner's 1:03.81 time was a personal best and supplied ten ducats to the Bison coffers. Belczyk won the event by 0.04 seconds. His mark ranks fifth in Bucknell history.
- Jeffrey Cianfrocca earned fifth points for Bucknell by finishing fourth (6-4 3/4) in the high jump. He received an All-East designation for his mark.
- Rookie Lucas Williams gained two points for Bucknell in the pole vault. Williams' clearance of 15-03 resulted in seventh place and All-East honors.
Bucknell competes next weekend at the Lafayette Invitational.Â
