LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell Athletics announced that Meghan Quinn earned her fifth career Bison of the Week award. Racing in the event for the first time, the senior speedster won the 400-meter dash at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Invitational and set the new Bucknell record. The previous record was set last year by Quinn's former teammate, Bridget Lalonde, who recorded a mark of 54.75.
"That was Meghan's first-ever open 400-meter race, and she passed that test with flying colors," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Her versatility proves her to be the greatest sprinter in Bucknell history. She has been a great captain, leader, and role model."
Quinn is no stranger to running rapidly and breaking school records. Her time of 54.57 gave the Warwick Winmaker her eighth school record and her 22nd career victory. Racing in heat one, Quinn defeated the No. 2 runner by nearly three seconds. In the overall standings, she edged the second-place runner by 2.33 seconds. The 54.57 time is the fastest 400-meter speed in the Patriot League.
While this is Quinn's first Bison of the Week award for 2023-24, she tallied the honor thrice in 2022-23 and once in 2021-22. The women's track & field team has collected four Bison of the Week laurels in 2023-24, leading all Orange & Blue programs. Quinn's five Bison of the Week honors are the most by a Bucknellian since Christine Bendzinski won six.
Quinn and the Bison return to action this Saturday at the Spire Center Collegiate Invite.
