Men's Swim & Dive Places Four on 2024 All-Patriot League Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Four members of the Bucknell men's swimming & diving team earned spots on the 2024 All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced Wednesday. Chris Kopac received First Team All-League honors, while Andy Dorsel, Chris Fabian and John Gehrig were each named to the Second Team. They were among 36 Patriot League student-athletes honored.

Members of the All-Patriot League Teams are selected based on medals and points compiled during the Patriot League Championships. First-place finishers in events automatically qualify for All-League First Team honors, while runners-up are guaranteed at least a Second Team spot.

All four Bison made an All-Patriot League Team for a third consecutive year, and Kopac's First Team nod was the second of his career.

Kopac led all Bison and ranked 14th at the championship meet with 76 points scored. He logged three individual finishes in the top-eight, and he earned a bronze medal in the 200 freestyle. Kopac was also part of Bucknell's bronze-medal winning 800 freestyle relay that set the school record. His 1:35.72 200 freestyle time is also a Bucknell record.

Dorsel was second behind Kopac with 66 points scored for the Bison, finishing third in the 400 IM, seventh in the 200 butterfly and 11th in the 200 IM. Dorsel was also part of the record-breaking 800 freestyle relay team and registered three individual program top-10 times.

Gehrig logged two A final finishes in individual events, including a fourth-place finish in the 200 butterfly. He swam on all four of Bucknell's relay teams, including both record-setting performances in the 800 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay. He finished one points behind Dorsel with 65.

Fabian posted 63 points and was part of two record-setting efforts. He swam on Bucknell's fourth-place 400 medley relay team that set the school standard with a 3:12.99, and his 100 butterfly time of 46.92 was the fastest in program history.

2024 All-Patriot League Performers

First Team

Chris Kopac – 76 points

- 3rd in 200 freestyle, 4th in 500 freestyle, 7th in 1650 freestyle
- 3rd in 800 freestyle relay, 4th in 400 freestyle relay

Second Team

Andy Dorsel – 66 points

- 3rd in 400 IM, 7th in 200 butterfly, 11th in 200 IM
- 3rd in 800 freestyle relay,

John Gehrig – 65 points

- 4th in 200 butterfly, 7th in 200 IM, 11th in 100 butterfly
- 3rd in 800 freestyle relay, 4th in 400 medley relay, 4th in 200 freestyle relay, 4th in 400 freestyle relay

Chris Fabian – 63 points

- 4th in 100 butterfly, 8th in 100 backstroke, 12th in 100 freestyle
- 4th in 200 medley relay, 4th in 400 medley relay, 4th in 200 freestyle relay
