Davis and Kellerman Set Top-10 Times as Men's Swimming and Diving Falls 191-109 at Army

RESULTS
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Bucknell men's swimming and diving team competed well against the reigning Patriot League champions in Army, falling 191-109 at Crandall Pool on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Drew Davis picked up right where he left off, breaking his own top-10 time in the 200 backstroke.
Davis took second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:48.95, beating his time of 1:49.04 set at the Bucknell Invitational. Davis sits 10th on the list and owns three top-10 times. Fellow freshman Jason Kellerman also made his way into the top-10 list, swimming the ninth-fastest time in the 200 butterfly in 1:49.07. Kellerman won the event to take nine points.
Davis and Kellerman were two of Bucknell's top performers in the meet. Davis had two top five finishes in individual events, also taking fourth in the 100 backstroke. He also had a hand in Bucknell's third-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
On top of Kellerman's win in the 200 butterfly, the first year took second in the 400 IM in 4:00.98 and took third in the 200 backstroke in 1:51.41. Altogether, he was the top-scoring Bison with 16 points in individual events.
Drew Greene got his first win of the season, swimming the 100 freestyle in 45.84. William Shoemaker won the 500 freestyle in 4:35.57. Â
Bucknell and Army kicked off the meet with diving events in the morning, where Army got out to an early advantage. The Bison earned seven points in the one-meter dive. Jack Krug took second in the event with a score of 284.03. Jake Hagler and Connor Thurston took fourth and fifth in the event. Krug also scored in the three-meter dive with a score of 280.05, but Army took four of the top-five spots to take 16 points in the event.
Shoemaker kicked off the swimming events with a second-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle, swimming a time of 9:27.78. Finn Franks took third in 9:41.75 and Alex Crossing finished in fifth. Army began to pull away early, however, taking first in each of the first five swimming events.
Riley Twiss swam a time of 1:40.63 in the 200 freestyle to take second in the event. He later posted another second-place finish in the 500 freestyle, swimming a time of 4:33.98.
Evan Hepburn took third in the 100 breaststroke in 56.77 and took fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Shane Wynne posted a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly in 1:49.52. Wynne was less that half of a second off of the winning time in the event. Wynne later took fourth in the 400 IM in 4:07.01.
Finn Russell took third in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. He posted a time of 20.63 in the sprint and 49.17 in the butterfly.
Dante Buonadonna took second in the 100 freestyle in 46.19. Franks posted two third place finishes in the 1,000 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. He swam the 1,000 freestyle in 9:41.75 and swam the 500 freestyle in 4:36.68
Bucknell is back in action this Friday at Loyola, kicking off the meet at 1 p.m. at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
