Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell wrapped up a 5-4 (4-4 PL) record in 2023-24 and concluded its dual schedule with a 162-138 victory over Lehigh on Jan. 27. Bucknell's last competition of the regular season was at the Navy Invite on Feb. 3, where the Bison claimed seven first-place finishes.
• Bucknell has secured seven consecutive winning seasons, going 47-12 (36-11) since the start of the 2017-18 campaign.
• The Bison went 6-2 (5-2 PL) in 2022-23 and finished third at the Patriot League Championships with 540.5 points. Bucknell has placed among the top three at four consecutive Patriot League Championships, including runner-up finishes in 2020 and 2022.
• Bucknell's 200 medley relay team broke the school record at last year's championship meet, as Esme Hunter, Alexandra Ritorto, Sabrina Vumbacco and Sophia Donati registered a 1:41.88.
• Bucknell returned three All-Patriot League honorees this season: Abby Doss (2023 2nd Team, 2022 1st Team), Esme Hunter (2022 & 2023 2nd Team), and Caroline McGann (2023 2nd Team). The Bison lost All-Patriot League swimmers Sabrina Vumbacco and Catherine Craig to graduation.
• The Bison have two school-record holders on the roster: Kate Handley (100 breaststroke) and Abby Doss (200 breaststroke). Meghan Catherwood ranks second in the record book in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
• First-year Virginia Hastings and junior Meghan Catherwood have both earned Patriot League weekly awards this season. Hastings was named PL Female Swimmer of the Week on Feb. 6, and Catherwood was named PL Female Diver of the Week on Oct. 24.
• Seniors Esme Hunter, Kayla Lichtner and Grace Kujawski are serving as team captains this season.
• Bucknell welcomed nine newcomers to the roster this season.
• Navy has finished atop the league at the championships 11 consecutive times. Colgate was the last team to finish ahead of the Mids in 2011. The Bison captured PL Championship titles in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
A Look Ahead
• Bucknell is back in Annapolis, Md. March 1-3 for the 2023 ECAC Championships. The Bison finished second overall at the event last season.
