LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sojka Pavilion gamedays have a bit of a different feel in 2024-25, as Bucknell Athletics partnered with Jump, the unified fan experience platform, to bring a seamless fan journey for the Bison men's and women's basketball teams this fall. Intended to modernize the gameday experience and drive deeper engagement with Bucknell's loyal fans, the platform includes comprehensive primary ticketing and a new mobile app that serves as an end-to-end hub built specifically for Bucknell Basketball and Sojka Pavilion.
The Bison Hoops app has a distinct Bucknell feel, as Jump co-founders Marc Lore '93 and Jordy Leiser '06 are not only Bucknell alumni but also former Bison student-athletes. Lore, Leiser -- who is the company's CEO -- and former Major League Baseball all-star Alex Rodriguez first began discussing the idea for Jump in 2021. Jump's chief revenue officer, John Ernsberger '06, is also a Bucknell graduate. With the backing of several top venture firms, Jump's mission is to elevate the live event experience for fans of all types.
"Bucknell Athletics is thrilled to partner with the team at Jump, a forward-thinking company that is truly committed to rethinking the holistic fan experience," said Jermaine Truax, Bucknell vice president for Athletics & Recreation. "Bucknell has a long and proud tradition of success in men's and women's basketball, and there is no better place to watch a game than in Sojka Pavilion. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated community of supporters, and we greatly appreciate their enthusiasm for the new Bison Hoops gameday platform. Not only is Jump bringing much-needed innovation to the sports tech landscape, but it has been gratifying to work with such a smart group of Bucknell alumni who bleed Orange & Blue."
"As a former student-athlete and proud Bucknell alum, bringing Jump's technology platform to Bucknell Athletics is particularly meaningful for me," said Leiser. "The intersection of sports, technology, and innovation has always been a passion of mine, and working with Jermaine Truax and the entire Athletics department to modernize the Bison basketball fan experience has been incredibly rewarding. Our team at Jump is committed to creating transformative fan experiences, and there's something special about launching this journey at Bucknell, where my own entrepreneurial path began. The enthusiasm and collaborative spirit from the Athletics staff has been outstanding, and we're excited to help support this next chapter of the Bucknell basketball story through this technology partnership."
The platform is compatible with iPhone and Android devices and can be downloaded for free by searching for "Bucknell Basketball" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Fans register with an email address to create their own Bucknell basketball account, and they can use the app to buy and manage tickets, read the latest team news, and much more. Tickets can also be transferred to other fans.
The Bison basketball teams are finishing up final exams and are nearing the start of Patriot League play. The men's team has challenging road games at Gonzaga and Syracuse before tipping off the conference slate at Lehigh on Jan. 2. The women's squad, which has won five of its last six games, hosts Hofstra at Sojka Pavilion on Saturday and then makes its Patriot League debut at home against Lehigh on Jan. 2.
