Men's Golf Heads to New Jersey for Cornell Invitational Sunday-Monday

About the Bison

After debuting with a fourth-place finish at Colgate last weekend, Bucknell is back on the course this Sunday-Monday at the Cornell Invitational. With Cornell's home course undergoing renovations, the tournament will be held at Watchung Valley GC in New Jersey.
The Bison performed well last week in the first of five fall tournaments. Five of the team's six players posted at least one round of even par or better. After posting a 301 team score in the first round, Bucknell followed with a 1-under-par 287 in round two and an even-par 288 in round three. The fourth-place finish in a 13-team field was the best among the five Patriot League teams in the event.
Sophomore James Robbins was the low Bison for the week, finishing in 12th place with a 3-over 219 total. Robbins' 2-under 70 was a career best.
Three Bison made impressive debuts last week. Freshmen Alex Creamean (79-74-70) and Hayden Quinn (75-77-72) and sophomore Lyman Brackett (74-80-72) all had bright moments.
Sophomore Andres Barraza had the team's low round of the week with a 1-under 69 in the second round. Barraza shot a 66 in team qualifying earlier this week and will be joined in this week's lineup by Robbins, Creamean, Quinn, and Jake Maddaloni. James Key will play as an individual.

Bucknell at the Cornell Invitational

Bucknell has competed in Cornell's fall invitational numerous times through the years at the RTJ Golf Club in Ithaca, but this week will mark the second time that the Bison have played in the Big Red's event at alternate venue.
Last season's tournament was co-hosted by Temple at the 1912 Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., and the Bison finished in ninth place. Blake Wisdom led the team with a 2-over total of 142, good for a T-9th finish.
Cornell also hosted at Watchung Hills in 2021, but the Bison were not in the field that season.
Bucknell's last trip to Ithaca came in 2019, and the Bison finished second among 16 teams with rounds of 292-294-281 at RTJ.

Following the Cornell event, the Bison will be at Yale's Macdonald Cup on Sept. 23-24, and they will host the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg on Oct. 8-10 and the Veterans Intercollegiate at Sebonack GC on Long Island on Oct. 30-31.
