King and Platt Advance to Championship Round at Rick McClure Women's Tennis Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. – Bucknell's Whitney King and Abby Platt advanced to the championship round at the Rick McClure Women's Tennis Invitational on Saturday by winning both singles matches and their doubles match over Loyola in the quarterfinals and taking the doubles point and one singles match over Delaware State in the semis. Two Bucknell pairs also advanced past the consolation semifinals on Saturday.
Results
King defeated Jessica Bodewes 6-1, 6-1, and Platt won 7-5, 6-2 over Emi Shivkumar to complete a 3-0 sweep over Loyola in the quarterfinals. King and Platt had previously defeated the pair in doubles on Friday. King then defeated Delaware State's Clara Kuehnle 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 in the semifinals to remain unbeaten in singles on the weekend. King's win came after she and Platt won 6-0 in doubles over Kuehnle and Daria Jula, earning their ticket to Sunday's championship round.
King and Platt are now 8-0 in doubles this season and are scheduled to face Delaware State's Olivia Tracey and Liza Tankimovich in two singles matches and a doubles match Sunday.
Bucknell's Jaycie Mair and Madi Sebulsky also reached the quarterfinals on Friday but fell to the consolation bracket Saturday by going 1-2 against their Delaware State opponents. Mair picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kit Yi Au-Yeung in the round.
Anna Lajos and Tyne Miller put up a dominant performance in the consolation quarterfinals, giving up just one game between their two singles matches and doubles action against Lafayette. The pair went on to defeat Christine Richiez and Sophia Moore in the consolation semifinals. The Bison won 6-1 in doubles, and Miller pulled out a 6-3, 6-0 win over Moore.
On the other side of the consolation bracket, Tori Allen and Kate Novak won both of their singles matches to advance past their Loyola opponents, then swept a tandem from Lafayette to reach the championship. The two Bison teams are set to meet in the consolation championship Sunday morning.
