King and Platt Win Rick McClure Women's Tennis Invitational Championship

BALTIMORE, Md. – Whitney King and Abby Platt came away victorious in the championship round of the Rick McClure Women's Tennis Invitational Sunday, winning one of two singles matches and taking the doubles point over Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung and Eva Golembiovski of Delaware State.
Platt defeated Golembiovski 6-3, 6-4, and she joined King for a 6-1 win over the Delaware State pair in doubles to come out on top at the tournament. Platt and King remain unbeaten in doubles play this season at 9-0. King retired in her singles match.
Also on Sunday, Anna Lajos and Tyne Miller swept Alexandra Waldman and Ally Bauer 3-0 in the consolation bracket. Miller defeated Bauer 6-1, 6-0, Lajos won 6-2, 6-2 over Waldman, and the Bison pair took the doubles point with a 6-4 decision.
Tori Allen and Kate Novak won their matchup in the consolation bracket as well. The pair narrowly fell 7-6 (3) in doubles to Loyola's Sophia Moore and Christine Richiez before Novak bounced back with a 6-3, 6-1 singles win over Moore. Allen won her singles match by default.
Looking ahead, the Bison travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to take on the Bowling Green Falcons in their first dual match of the season on Friday, Oct. 13. Bucknell then heads north to Big Rapids, Mich. to face Ferris State on Saturday, Oct. 14.
