Bucknell Men's Water Polo Makes Home Debut at Annual Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell University men's water polo team returns home this weekend to host the 2023 Bucknell Invitational. The Bison will see competitions against No. 5 Princeton, No. 17 Fordham, and No. 20 Air Force.

Bucknell hosts its annual invitational this weekend at Kiney Natatorium. A total of 15 games will be played over two days, with the Bison in action three times.
Bucknell faces off against No. 5 Princeton, No. 17 Fordham, and No. 20 Air Force for the first time this season.
The Bison fell to the Rams three times in the 2022 season.
Bucknell was defeated by Fordham in the final round of the MAWPC Championship 14-7.
Bucknell has not beaten No. 17 Fordham since Nov.16, 2019, when it defeated the Rams 9-6.
Bucknell previously competed against No. 5 Princeton during the 2022 season at the Princeton Invite.
Aleksa Stefanovic and Andu Vlasceanu had a hat trick each in the game to try and close the gap Princeton created.
Bucknell ultimately fell to Princeton 18-10 that game despite immense effort from the Bison.
The Bison and the Falcons will compete against one another for the first time since 2018.
Bucknell defeated No.20 Air Force at the Julian Fraser Memorial 16-13.
The Bison went on a 10-7 run against the Falcons, earning a four-goal lead by the end of the second and beginning of the third quarter. The Bison had a 12-8 lead at the end of the third.
Bucknell and No. 20 Air Force were scheduled for a game in October 2021. However, the game was canceled due to COVID-19.
Sophomore attacker Aleksa Stefanovic and junior attacker Shay Gillearn lead the team for goals with nine each.
Bucknell has notched two wins against Iona.
Four of the Bisons' five losses are against ranked teams.
