
Men's Track & Field Travels to Bethlehem for Patriot League Outdoor Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell men's track & field team travels to Bethlehem to compete in the 2023 Patriot League Outdoor Championships. The Bison are ready to roll and looking to improve on last year's fourth-place finish behind Navy, Army, and Boston University.Â

Injuries have held us back a little, but that is just part of track & field, and everyone has them, but overall we are better than we were one year ago today."Â

Last Time Out (Penn Relays & Maroon & Gold Invitational)
- At the Penn Relays, the distance medley relay quartet of Jayson Harmer, Ethan Wolford-Tuffy, Alex Simpson, and Samuel Whittaker broke into the Bucknell all-time lists with their time of 9:53.62. The mark earned them fourth in Bucknell history and ninth in the meet.Â
- Franco Perinotti clinched victory in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-01.00 at the Invitational.Â
- Matt Federovich finished first in the long jump with a leap of 21-03.50.Â
- Despite the miserably wet conditions due to pouring rain, Wade Shomper threw himself into the Bucknell record books. The rookie won the shot put event on a throw of 54-8. The mark inserted him as third all-time in Bucknell history.Â
- Bucknell controlled the whole shot put event by claiming all positions in the top five. Braden Stryker finished second (50-6.75), Jaxon White grabbed third (47-9.25), Jack Renaghan placed fourth (45-7.00), and Patrick Donaher rounded out the top five (45-6.25).Â
- The 4x800 relay unit of Thomas Matsumura, Alex Simpson, Samuel Whittaker, and Colby Belczyk clocked a time of 7:36.12, trailing only Navy and Army
- Bucknell's 4x100 relay team and Samuel Whittaker highlighted the meet with third-place finishes, and Whittaker's mark in the 5000 ranked seventh on Bucknell's all-time top 10 list.
- A pair of Bison collected points in the 400, as Ethan Wolford-Tuffy placed fourth with a 49.70 and Rayven Sample took seventh with a 51.07.
- Joining Wolford-Tuffy with fourth-place finishes were Noah Martin in the steeplechase (9:15.81) and Brian Scotto in the 110 hurdles (15.29).
The qualifying student-athletes will compete in the IC4A Championships.Â
