LEWISBURG, Pa.- The league office announced on Tuesday that Karen Hull won Patriot League Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her record-shattering day at the Bucknell Team Challenge. Hull broke two school records: individually in the high jump and as part of the 4x100-meter relay team with Bridget Lalonde, Meghan Quinn, and Lila Gaughan, though, the track event did not factor into her the weekly field honor.Â
"Karen obviously had a great weekend as she broke our school record in winning the high jump and also anchored our 4x100-meter relay team to a first-place finish in which we broke a school record as well," said head coach Kevin Donner. She missed some training due to knee issues in March, but she seems to be rounding into good shape right now. She also took second in the long jump which was our farthest jump on the team so far this year."
Hull demolished the old high jump record of 5-7 3/4 set by Abby Kates earlier this season with a leap of 5-8 3/4. Hull was tied for third (5-7) but now she owns the record going away. Her mark is the best in the Patriot League this season and ranks 62nd in the country.
Hull won the second women's Athlete of the Week award for Bucknell this season. Kates previously won it on March 28 for her own high jump record-breaking performance. It is the first time since 2018 that two Bison won the award since Laura Hudson (April 24) and Maura Fiamoncini (May 1) took home the honors.Â
The jumper and the Bison return to action this weekend with meets at the Penn Relays and the Maroon & Gold Invitational.Â
