
Women's Tennis on the Road for Pair of Patriot League Matches

Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell is on the road this weekend for back-to-back matches against Army and Colgate. It's the team's first time playing on back-to-back days since early March. Colgate and Army sit just above the Bison in the Patriot League standings at third and fourth, respectively.
• Bucknell (10-11, 2-2 PL) is coming off a 4-3 road win at Lehigh. The Bison took two of three in doubles, and Anna Lajos sealed the match with a win at No. 2 singles. The win snapped a four-match losing skid for the Bison.
• Lajos earned Bison Athlete of the Week recognition for her efforts against the Mountain Hawks. She currently leads the team in overall singles victories with 15. Abby Platt leads the team with 16 overall doubles wins.
• Bucknell went 12-10 (3-3 PL) during the 2021-22 season, securing its highest win total since 2018-19. The Bison ended up falling to Loyola in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships, 4-2.
• The Bison graduated their lone All-Patriot Leaguer, Daniela Bellini, in the spring. They welcomed two freshmen in the fall and entered the spring season with eight total on the roster.
• Juniors Kate Novak and Tyne Miller are serving as team captains this season.
• Bucknell played its first seven matches of the spring on the road before hosting its first home match on Feb. 19. The Bison will play just one of their final four at home.
• Bucknell is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Tammy Cecchini. She was previously the head coach at Valparaiso from 2015 to 2018 and spent the 2014-15 season with Valpo as an assistant coach.

Army at a Glance
• Army enters the weekend 18-8 (3-2 PL) after dropping its last two matches against Boston U. and Navy. The Black Knights were riding a five-match winning streak before that. They're currently fourth in the Patriot League standings.
• Army returned just one of its three All-Patriot League honorees from last season, Cooper Jackson. The sophomore has twice been named Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week this season.
• The Black Knights won the 2022 Patriot League Championship and finished with a 25-10 (5-2 PL) record. They went on to face Princeton in the NCAA Tournament.
• Army leads the all-time series with Bucknell 36-4, with Bucknell's last win coming in 1994. The Black Knights won 4-0 in last year's meeting.
Colgate at a Glance
• Colgate is 11-6 (3-1 PL) and will face Rochester on Saturday before hosting the Bison on Sunday. Most recently, Colgate lost 4-3 to Loyola and 5-2 to George Mason on April 8 and 9.
• Colgate is currently third in the Patriot League standings. It has captured league victories over Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh.
• The Raiders have no returning All-Patriot League players, but freshman Amelia Galin has twice earned Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
• Colgate finished fourth in the Patriot League standings last season with a 10-10 (3-2 PL) record.
• Bucknell is 23-20 in all-time meetings with Colgate, adding a 4-0 victory last April. The Bison swept the doubles point and earned wins at the top three singles positions.
