Men’s Golf in 4th Place at Wildcat Invitational

RESULTS
GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Bucknell men's golf team posted a 3-over-par 287 in round one and was 7-over after the first nine holes of the second round on Monday at the Wildcat Invitational at LuLu Country Club. The Bison are in fourth place in a 15-team field with the final nine holes coming on Tuesday.
Michael Rudnick's 2-under 69 led the squad in the first round. Rudnick went out in 33 with two birdies and seven pars on the opening nine, and another birdie at the 10th hot him to 3-under on the day. After a pair of bogeys at 13 and 15, Rudnick finished par-par-birdie to post his first career round in the 60s.
Blake Wisdom made five birdies in round one on the way to a 71, and the Bison also counted a 73 from Jack Gardner and a 74 from Jackson Bussell.
Scores were up all across the field in the afternoon, but Bussell and Andres Barraza had strong front nines for the Bison. Bussell offset two bogeys with three birdies on the way to a 1-under 34. The freshman Barraza started birdie-bogey and then made seven pars for an even-par 35.
Host Villanova leads the tournament at 1-under, one shot better than La Salle. Two Patriot League teams are next, with Lehigh in third at +4 and Bucknell fourth at +10. The Bison are one stroke in front of St. John's and two ahead of Iona.
Peter Weaver of Villanova and Anthony Garcia of La Salle are the co-leaders on the individual leaderboard at 5-under. Garcia's 65 was the best opening round in the field. Bussell is now the low Bison at 2-over, which puts him in a tie for 20th.
