
Bison Women's Tennis Dispatches Marist 7-0 at Home

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 win over Marist Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Courts. It was the team's second 7-0 win of the weekend after sweeping Loyola (Md.) on Friday, and the Bison have now rattled off victories in seven of their last eight matches. Bucknell (9-7, 1-1 PL) had five singles matches be decided in straight sets, and neither of Marist's doubles tandems that finished their matches won more than two games.
Sophomore Anna Lajos finished third in singles play to seal the match with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over junior Jane Bockman. Whitney King also handled her opponent quickly, defeating junior Deana Giambo 6-0, 6-2 in the top singles position.
Bucknell freshman Abby Platt put together her second straight undefeated weekend by beating sophomore Ellen Zureick 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Tyne Miller, Kate Novak and Caroline Marcus wrapped up Bucknell's singles winners.
King and Platt handled No. 1 doubles duty, defeating Bockman and Zureick 6-1, and Madi Sebulsky joined Marcus in a 6-2 win over Isabella Tonuzi and Andriana Zaphiris at No. 3 doubles. The second doubles match was knotted up at 3-3 before the point was clinched by the Bison.
Bucknell is off until next week when it heads to South Carolina for three matches over spring break. Bucknell will face College of Charleston on Sunday, March 12, South Carolina State on Monday, March 13, and Charleston Southern on Wednesday, March 15.
