PITTSBURGH, P.A.- The Bison had an 8-4 lead over the Pittsburgh Panthers entering the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Panthers rallied for seven runs to escape with an 11-8 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Jacob Corson hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to give Bucknell the 8-4 advantage. Sean Keys batted 1-of-3 with 2 RBIs. Connor Vucovich and Nikhil Patel combined for two scoreless innings in relief.

Bucknell struck first when Nic Adamo doubled to right center field to score Keys. The Bison lead lasted for an inning until Pittsburgh launched a grand slam for the 4-1 advantage.

The Bison clawed back by scoring three runs in the next three innings. Billy Kender scored off an error in the fourth frame. In the fifth inning, Bucknell tallied three runs off an RBI walk by Kender and a two-run double by Keys for the 5-4 advantage. Corson launched his three-run bomb in the sixth inning, and the Bison had an 8-4 lead.

Pittsburgh was held scoreless in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Panthers broke through in the seventh with a two-run double to cut the deficit to 8-6.

The Panthers seized the lead when a combination of hit-by-pitches and walks set up Pitt's offense. A hit by pitch and a walk scored two Panthers to tie the game at 8-8. Another walk gave Pitt the lead. An infield single made it 10-8. The fourth walk of the inning increased the lead to 11-8. Bucknell forced the final two outs, but the damage was done.

The Bison tried to rally in the ninth inning. Kyle Lyons stole second base, but a strikeout ended the game.

Bucknell heads back down south this weekend for two games against Western Michigan and one against North Carolina A&T in East Greensboro, N.C.
