
Three Bison Break Par as Men's Golf Moves into T-4th at Loyola Intercollegiate

RESULTS
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Led by a 4-under-par 68 from Jackson Bussell, the Bucknell men's golf team saw three players break par on Monday and compiled a 6-under 282 to move into a tie for fourth place after two rounds at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Country Club.
After opening with a 293 on Sunday, the Bison improved by 11 shots on day two. The 282 team composite was tied for 12th-best in team history, but in relation to par the 6-under total was tied for No. 2 in the record book. The Bison posted a 7-under 281 at Quechee Club in the fall of 218, and they also posted a 6-under 282 at the UNCG Martin Downs Intercollegiate in February of 2020.
Bucknell sits at 1-under 575 through 36 holes, tied with George Mason for fourth place in the 19-team field. Wright State (-10), Marquette (-9), and Utah Valley (-9) gained some separation on the field with strong second rounds.
Bussell posted an eagle and five birdies on the way to his career-best-tying 68. After starting the day on hole No. 6, Bussell was 1-under through 14 holes and then eagled the par-5 2nd hole and birdied 3 and 5 to finish at 4-under. Now in a tie for 12th place, Bussell carded his second career 68. The other came at last spring's Patriot League Championship.
Blake Wisdom is also T-12th at 142 after posting a 2-under 70 on Monday. Wisdom birdied three of his first five holes and then added two more birdies on the course's back nine.
Michael Rudnick also posted a red number in round two, following his opening-round 75 with a 1-under 71. Rudnick, who made three birdies and an eagle on Sunday, cut down on the bogeys in the second round and made four more birdies on the way to the 71, which was one off his career best.
Bucknell's two freshmen rounded out the lineup, with James Key posting a 73 and Andres Barraza a 75.
Lucas Scherf of Drake made eight birdies and an eagle and turned in the round of the day with a 9-under 63. He vaulted to the top of the leaderboard at -9 for the tournament, one shot better than Utah Valley's Caden Weber.
A total of 34 players are even-par or better heading into Tuesday's final round. Bucknell will be in the final foursomes, paired with Wright State, Marquette, and Utah Valley.
