CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bucknell men's lacrosse team trailed 10-3 early in the third quarter before going on a 5-0 run and nearly catching up to Harvard, but the comeback effort fell short as the Crimson held on for a 13-8 win at a snowy Jordan Field on Saturday.
Harvard finished the game 17-for-25 at the faceoff X and outshot the Bison 54-33, but freshman goalie Jaz Zanelli put up a solid effort with 14 saves against the Crimson. Cam Doolan led Bucknell with four points, scoring all three of his goals in the third quarter. Jack Feda and Dutch Furlong added two goals each, and Will Hopkins found the back of the cage once.
Harvard jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first period, scoring four unanswered at one point. The two teams traded goals early in the second, as Bucknell refused to let the game slip away. Feda scored his second of the quarter with 8:41 to play in the half to cut Harvard's lead to 6-3, but again the Crimson ended the frame on another 3-0 run.
Harvard scored again just over a minute into the third quarter to open up its biggest lead of the game at 10-3, but Bucknell went on a scoring tear. Over the next 9:19, the Bison tallied five in a row to cut Harvard's lead to two before the final quarter. Doolan initiated the run and would score a hat trick in the third period alone. Furlong also added one, and it was Hopkins' goal with 2:25 on the clock that made it a 10-8 game.
It's now a 4-0 Bison run, and Doolan has the hat trick! @ESPN

Bucknell won the faceoff battle in the third quarter, outshot the Crimson 9-7, and Zanelli came up with six big saves.
Bucknell saw a few more scoring chances in the fourth quarter, but Harvard dashed the momentum and put an end to the Bison run with a goal 3:50 into the frame. The Crimson held Bucknell off the board in the fourth and scored three goals on 13 shots.
Michael Meyer added a pair of assists to the Bison effort, and Griffin Shaffer posted one. Andrew Stanzel and Joe Scattareggia finished with three ground balls each, and both registered a pair of caused turnovers.
Bucknell turns around and heads to Wilton, Conn. to take on Bellarmine at Wilton High School in a neutral-site game on Tuesday, Feb. 28. It will be Bucknell's first time facing the Knights.
