Ajao Crowned Patriot League Women's Field Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Christine Ajao won the Patriot League Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, for her two excellent performances in the Shot Put and Weight Throw at the Bucknell Tune-Up.

She earned silver in the Shot Put with a heave of 40-09.75. Her throw in the Shot Put ranks 11th-best in the Patriot League this season.

Ajao also placed third in the Weight Throw on a toss of 49-03.00.

Ajao is the second Bison to win the award this season. Abby Kates previously won the honor last week. After going four years without a winner in the category, the Bison have back-to-back winners for the first time since 2019, when Kaitlyn Salisbury earned it on Jan. 12 and 19. It is the first time different athletes won it since the 2009-10 season when Chelsey Musante (1/19) and Sarah Bella (1/26) turned the trick.

Ajao and her Bucknell brethren return to action on Feb. 25-26 at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships.
