Women's Tennis Defeats Coppin State 6-0 for Third Straight Win

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team concluded a 2-0 weekend and earned its third straight victory with a 6-0 decision over Coppin State in its first home match of the spring season at the Central PA Tennis Center Sunday. The Bison improved to 5-6 on the season with the win.
The Bison secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Tyne Miller and Anna Lajos defeated Coppin State's Megan Etienne and Emperess Johnson, 6-2. Madi Sebulsky, who saw her first action this spring, joined Caroline Marcus with a 6-2 win over Mackenzie Jones and Kenyange Kaounde at No. 2 doubles.
Playing at No. 1 singles, freshman Abby Platt earned her second win of the weekend by defeating Etienne 6-0, 6-1. Fellow freshman Mirra Manolov picked up a win as well, defeating Kaounde 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
The match was clinched as Coppin State's Mackenzie Jones retired after Kate Novak took the first set 6-1 over the senior.
A short-handed Eagles team forfeited No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Bucknell heads to Hershey, Pa. on Friday, February 24 to host Siena. The Bison then head to Indiana, Pa. to take on IUP the following day.
