
Women's Tennis Travels to St. Bonaventure Saturday, Hosts Coppin State Sunday

• Fresh off its first win of the spring season, the Bucknell women's tennis team enters the weekend 3-6 (0-1 PL). The Bison are gearing up for a road match at St. Bonaventure before hosting their first home dual of the spring against Coppin State on Sunday.
• Bucknell won four of six singles matches and took two of three in doubles to defeat Washington & Lee, which has won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference 19 years in a row and entered the weekend undefeated. Junior Tyne Miller finished the weekend 2-0 in singles, including her win in the George Washington dual.
• Bucknell went 12-10 (3-3 PL) during the 2021-22 season, securing its highest win total since 2018-19. The Bison ended up falling to Loyola in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships, 4-2.
• The Bison graduated their lone All-Patriot Leaguer, Daniela Bellini, in the spring. They welcomed two freshmen in the fall and entered the spring season with eight total on the roster.
• Juniors Novak and Tyne Miller are serving as team captains this season.
• Lajos led the Bison with an 8-4 singles record in the fall, including a 2-1 mark in duals.
• Bucknell plays its first seven matches of the spring on the road before hosting its first home match on Feb. 19.
• Bucknell is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Tammy Cecchini. She was previously the head coach at Valparaiso from 2015 to 2018 and spent the 2014-15 season with Valpo as an assistant coach.

St. Bonaventure at a Glance
• The Bonnies are off to a 4-5 (0-1 A10) start this season, including back-to-back wins over Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst on Feb. 11 and Feb. 12. They've faced three Patriot League teams already, defeating Loyola 5-2, falling to Navy 6-1, and dropping a 4-0 decision at Army on Feb. 4.
• St. Bonaventure went 5-15 (0-6) last season and returned one All-Conference player. Sophomore Alexandra Jansson was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 as a rookie in 2022 after leading the Bonnies with 13 singles victories and five doubles wins.
• Jansson, Isabella Venter, Sienna Smith and Kelly Barnes each went 2-0 in singles last weekend.
• Bucknell hosted the Bonnies last faced the Bonnies on March 5, 2022 and collected a 6-1 win at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Bison took five of six singles matches and two of three in doubles. Four of Bucknell's five singles wins were decided in straight sets.
Coppin State at a Glance
• Coppin State is seeking its first win of the season after an 0-5 start. The Eagles most recently fell 7-0 to Saint Joseph's on Feb. 11. They also have a 6-1 loss to Patriot League foe Lafayette.
• Coppin State finished 1-18 (0-6 MEAC) last season and fell 4-0 to Morgan State in the first round of the MEAC tournament.
• Fifth-year Iva Jankovic earned Second Team All-Conference honors in 2022, becoming the first Eagle to collect All-MEAC honors since 2007. Jankovic won seven singles matches and picked up four wins in doubles play last season. She currently leads the Eagles with a 3-5 mark in singles this year.
• Bucknell last faced Coppin State in 2017, winning 7-0 on the road.

• Bucknell plays host to Siena in Hershey, Pa. on Friday, Feb. 24 before traveling to IUP in Indiana, Pa. on Saturday, Feb. 25.
