
Women's Swim & Dive Wraps Up First Day of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team opened the Bucknell Invitational with six events on Friday and sit in fourth place with 298 points. The Bison ended the evening with a solid performance in the 400 medley relay, scoring third-place points with their highest finish of the day.
Esme Hunter, Kate Handley, Kyla Kelly and Kayla Lichtner posted a 3:49.23 in the relay to finish behind UConn and Davidson's A teams. The Huskies currently lead in the meet with 454 points.
Kelly was also impressive in the 200 IM on Friday. The sophomore's 2:03.20 was the second-best prelim time at the meet and places her eighth all-time in the Bucknell record books. She went on to swim a 2:03.38 in the finals to grab fourth place.
Kelly swam the third leg of Bucknell's 200 freestyle relay team as well. She, along with Jennifer Bolden, Lichtner and Hunter placed fifth with a 1:34.48.
Hunter joined Kelly in the 200 IM A finals and scored 22 points for the Bison with an eighth-place finish. Skye Sunderhauf's 2:06.85 was Bucknell's second-best 200 IM time of the evening, as she touched the wall third in the B finals. First-year Virginia Hastings registered a 2:07.52 in the C finals.
On the boards, Reggie Frias and Meghan Catherwood combined to contribute 48 points towards the Bison effort by taking fourth and seventh place in the 3-meter, respectively. Frias posted a 265.65 in the finals, followed by Catherwood's 236.65.
After UConn, Fordham sits in second place at the meet with 373 points, and Davidson is just ahead of the Bison in third with 345.
The meet resumes Saturday morning with the 400 IM prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
