LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team rounded out its dual meet schedule with a dominant 194-73 victory over rival Lehigh Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison took first place in 11 events and finished runners-up in 10 events. Bucknell also finished 1-2-3 in five different races.
With the win, Bucknell improved to 6-2 (5-2 PL) on the season. The team has now secured back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2015.
Bucknell recognized its seniors prior to the start of the meet, and the class helped account for four first-place finishes as well as a runner-up spot against the Mountain Hawks on Saturday.
Senior Leo Kuyl won both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle while also anchoring the first-place 200 medley relay team. Joining Kuyl with multiple wins on the afternoon were Chris Kopac in the 1000 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, and Andy Dorsel in the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke.
Senior Christian Stef (200 freestyle), Chris Fabian (100 backstroke), Will Hedges (100 breaststroke) and Braden Beagle (200 backstroke) rounded out the Bison winners. Fabian also swam leadoff in the winning 200 medley relay, joining teammates Justin DiSanto and John Gehrig in the effort.
DiSanto, Gehrig, and Fabian continued to tally points for the Bison with second-place finishes as well.
Bucknell was outstanding in the 1000 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and the 500 freestyle, claiming the top three spots in each of those events.
Bucknell is back home next weekend to host the Bison Invite on Saturday, Jan. 28, which will be the team's final preparation before the 2023 Patriot League Championships come to Lewisburg on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
