"It was a very solid race for the ladies," said head coach Kevin Donner. "It's great to get Bellucci back with our front pack, and our first-year Caryn Rippey ran great. For most of the team, this was the most competitive meet they have ever run, and I thought they handled the pressure very well. We don't have the great front runners of the past such as Colleen Buckley and Ashlyn Ramos, but our pack is pretty good. If we can tighten it up, we have the potential to be a very good team."
Bucknell as a team finished 13th (316) of 19 in a loaded field that included two ranked teams in No. 20 Harvard and No. 23 Gonzaga. Fellow Patriot League school Boston University (12th, 305) also participated in the meet. Virginia (27) won the meet, placing all five of its scoring runners in the top ten.
Rippey led a Bucknell contingent that placed all five of its scoring runners in the top 100 in the field of 164 runners. The first-year, who has already claimed one Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor this season, was followed by Mia Bellucci (44th, 18:26) in the top 50. Abby Paczewski (66th, 18:46), Ally Clarke (74th, 18:53) and Laura Sakol (91st, 19:10) rounded out Bucknell's scoring runners.
Keeley Misutka (99th, 19:17) and Asta Rustad (101st, 19:20), Kate Amaddio (115th), Lauren Joyce (120th), and Hollie Walters (141st) also competed for the Bison in a solid day for the Orange and Blue.
Elizabeth Mancini of La Salle won the individual title in a time of 17:03, and was joined in the top 20 by sisters Liz and Christine Mancini, who finished fourth and 17th, respectively.
Bucknell now will have an extended layoff of two weeks before returning to competition on Friday, October 14 at the Fordham Invite.
