The Bison also sent a contingent of runners to the ECAC/IC4A Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, N.Y., where the team finished 24th overall in the field of 34 teams.
"It was a very solid effort for the women," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. Keeley Misutka ran great, and we have had four different number one runners in four different meets. Bellucci is starting to run well, and if we can get everyone to put it together on the same day, we will be in a great position for the league meet in two weeks. Our women at the ECAC meet ran well, and we beat a few Patriot League schools in spite of our top eight being at PSU. It's great to see Trapani back. It was her first meet after recovering from mono and a stress reaction, and she will add to our depth in the next few weeks."
The Bison were led by Keeley Misutka, who becomes the fourth different Bison to lead the squad in its four meets this season. Misutka, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, finished 56th overall (22:06.3) in the field of 169 competitors.
Misutka was followed by Abby Paczewski, who was 61st overall (22:11.6), Mia Bellucci (64th, 22:15.3), Ally Clarke (77th, 22:30.8), and Caryn Rippey (22:47.5) as Bucknell's scoring runners.
Kate Amaddio (86th, 22:48.6), Laura Sakol (109th, 23:14.1), and Asta Rustad (148th, 24:29.5) served as Bucknell's displacing runners.
Ceili McCabe of West Virginia took first (20:00.8) at the 6K course, which is a preview of the Mid-Atlantic Regional course hosted by the Nittany Lions in November. The Mountaineers took first overall at the meet (65), and were followed by Penn State (85), Northeastern (105), Georgia Tech (106), and Columbia (121) in the top five. The Bison were the only Patriot League school to compete at the meet.
In New York, the Bison were led by a strong performance from Lauren Trapani, who returned for the first time this season for her first action since the Patriot League Indoor Championships on February 26-27. The sophomore finished 49th overall (22:30.5) to lead the Orange and Blue, and was followed by Hollie Walters (113th, 23:10.0), Lauren Joyce (126th, 23:17.9), Meghan Smith (165th, 23:41.3) and Meredith Haberfield (226th, 24:29.6) as Bucknell's scoring runners.
Eva Lindner (242nd), Tori Chace (246th), and Aidan Smith (282nd), also competed for the Bison on Friday.
Bucknell (603) finished 24th overall, and was sandwiched between Patriot League schools American (23rd, 597) and Lafayette (25th, 650). Lehigh (9th, 243) Colgate (31st, 853) and Loyola (Md.) (32nd, 893) also competed from the Patriot League.
Stony Brook (105) won the meet, followed by Richmond (177), New Hampshire (179), Cornell (185) and Harvard (187) in the top five. Kenzie Boyle (20:45.1) of UMass Lowell was the individual champion.
Bucknell will now turn its attention to its final tune up at home on October 21 at 5:15 p.m. before the Patriot League Championships on Saturday, October 29.
