LATHAM, N.Y. – Led by a 10th-place finish from Ally Clarke, the Bucknell women's cross country team put all five scoring runners in the top 26 in a field of 165 competitors, and the Bison finished in second place as a team on Saturday at the Siena Invitational.
Quinnipiac won the meet with 49 points. Bucknell was second with 94 points, edging out host Siena (97) and Albany (108) in a field of 13 teams.
Clarke covered the 5,000-meter course at The Crossings in 18:35.0. Freshman Caryn Rippey was four seconds behind Clarke in 15th place. Also counting for the Bison were Abby Paczewski in 17th, Kate Amaddio in 25th, and Laura Sakol in 26th. Keeley Misutka (27th) and Mia Bellucci (28th) were right behind Amaddio and Sakol.
"We showed a very nice improvement compared to last week, and although we had some athletes feeling under the weather, they did a great job just plugging away," said head coach Kevin Donner. "We do have some very nice depth, and it looks like that will be our mantra for the year."
Siena's Olivia Lomascolo crossed the finish line first in 17:57.4. Teammate Delia McDade Clay was runner-up in 18:04.5, but the Saints' third runner finished 29th. Quinnipiac placed each of its top five runners in the top 20, including three in the top seven.
Bucknell will next have a week off before competing at the Boston College Invitational on Sept. 23.
