
Volleyball Splits Saturday Matches to Wrap Up Non-League Play

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bucknell volleyball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule by splitting its two Saturday matches at the Western New York Invitational. The Bison won 3-1 over Canisius in the early match before suffering a tough five-set loss to Youngstown State later in the day.
Catherine Jamison, who was named to the weekend's All-Tournament Team, totaled 31 kills on Saturday. She supplied 18 in the Youngstown State match and maintained a .440 hitting percentage with 13 more in the Canisius match.
Bucknell 3, Canisius 1 (25-12, 17-25, 25-20, 25-17)
Bucknell never trailed in the first set and hit .444 in the frame. A 7-0 run gave Bucknell set-point at 24-10, and Canisius managed to score just two more points before the Bison secured a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Golden Griffins jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second, and the Bison fell behind by as many as 10. They pulled back within four a 21-17, but Canisius held on to even the match at 1-1.
Bucknell hit .333 and .293 over the third and fourth sets, respectively. The second set remained close, and the teams sat tied at 20-20 before the Bison ended it on a 5-0 run. Much like the first, Bucknell never trailed in the final frame and cruised to a 25-17 win.
Joining Jamison with a strong performance in the match was Valentina Feigl, who posted five block assists and one block solo. She also added nine kills.
Youngstown State 3, Bucknell 2 (25-18, 9-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-9)
The Bison and the Penguins went back and forth throughout the second match, as Bucknell won sets two and three before Youngstown State forced a fifth. The Bison scored the first two points in set five, but the Penguins took the lead at 3-2 and never gave it back.
The Bison hit .444 in the second frame but finished with a .169 percentage. The Penguins hit .164 and held a 9-6 edge in blocks.
Joining Jamison with double-digit kills was Bri Frazilus, who totaled 14 with 12 digs for a double-double.
