LEWISBURG, Pa. – Head Bucknell softball coach Sarah Caffrey announced on Friday that Brad Posner will be joining her staff as an assistant coach. Posner brings more than two decades of softball coaching experience to Lewisburg, including 11 years as a head coach.
Posner spent the past seven seasons as the head coach at nearby Susquehanna and ranks second all-time in the program's history with 143 career victories. He built the River Hawks into a regional power during his tenure, guiding the team to two Landmark Conference championships along with a pair of trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
"I'm thrilled to announce the addition of Brad to our Bison family. He comes to us with great experience and passion for the game," said Caffrey. "He is motivated, extremely knowledgeable and hard working. I'm so excited for him to get started with us this fall, and I have no doubt that he will make an impact right away."
In 2022, Posner's River Hawks went 28-9 overall and 11-1 in conference play en route to a second championship in five years. Following the season, Posner's staff was named the NFCA Region V Coaching Staff of the Year.
During his time at Susquehanna, Posner coached 24 All-Conference players, five All-Region selections and one All-American.
Prior to his stint at Susquehanna, Posner spent four seasons as the head coach at The University of Texas at Dallas. He amassed an 86-70-1 record, becoming the winningest coach in school history. His teams also set single-season records in more than a dozen categories, including batting average, slugging percentage, hits, RBIs and runs scored.
As a head coach, Posner has led his teams to 20 or more victories in eight of nine seasons (excluding shortened campaigns in 2020 and 2021) and owns a career record of 229-161-1 (.587).
Posner has also spent 12 years as an assistant coach at SUNY Cortland. The Red Dragons won six conference titles and made five NCAA Division III World Series appearances with Posner on staff. He was part of four NFCA Northeast Coaching Staffs of the Year.
In addition to his coaching experience Posner has served as a director of facilities and a camps and clinics director.
Posner earned his bachelor's degree in psychology at Southern New Hampshire in 2008.
