LEWISBURG, Pa. – Eleven student-athletes on the Bucknell rowing team have received Scholar Athlete Awards from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). This year's Bison honorees are Elizabeth Berlinger, Caroline Brandt, Christina DeMola, Juliette Gaggini, Abby Gerst, Annabelle Kaeli, Natalie Kreusch, Millie Malloy, Kate Meerscheidt, Chloe Segal, and Jess Volcheck.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be in their second, third, fourth, or fifth year of eligibility; they must have rowed in their school's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races or raced in a regional conference event; and they must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.
The Bucknell rowing team enjoyed another strong semester academically in the spring of 22. The Bison squad combined for a 3.42 GPA and saw 10 student-athletes record perfect 4.0 GPAs and 28 make the Dean's List with a 3.50 or better.
Meerscheidt was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year in May, and she was joined on the Academic All-Patriot League Team by Brandt and Gaggini. All three were part of Bucknell's gold medal-winning Varsity Eight at the Patriot League Championships and helped the Bison to a second-place team finish.
