LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's track & field's distance medley relay team, consisting of Mackenzie Turner, Mikayla Horvath, Karly Forker and Ashlyn Ramos, received the Bison of the Week honor on Monday after breaking the school record at the Penn Relays on Friday.
The group ran an 11:36.32 to place fifth at the meet and eclipse the previous record of 11:38.54 that was set in 2017. Bucknell finished behind only Tennessee (11:20.78), Navy (11:32.80), Monmouth (11:35.83) and UConn (11:35.93) while beating sixth-place Georgia Tech by 3.65 seconds.
Bucknell was leading the pack after the first leg of the race, as Forker ran the 1200 in 3:29.79. The Bison dropped just one spot following Horvath's 58.53 400 meter. Turner ran the 800 portion in 2:13.93, and Ramos completed the final 1600 leg in 4:54.09.
This is the women's track & field team's second consecutive Bison of the Week award, as Michaela Bracken was honored following last weekend's strong showing at the Bucknell Team Challenge.
The Bison now set their sights on the 2022 Outdoor Patriot League Championships, which begin Friday, May 6 in Annapolis, Md.
