WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior Ashlyn Ramos won the 10k to highlight a strong day at the ECAC Track & Field Championships on Saturday. The Bison totaled 20 points and scored in multiple events, and a pair of athletes moved up all-time top 10 lists.
"We had a very good day on the women's side. Our 4x100 relay scored and we were missing one of our top people," said head coach Kevin Donner. "O'Sullivan had a great day in the shot put, and Bellucci had a nice race to score in the 5k. Obviously, the highlight of the day was Ramos winning and setting the ECAC record in the 10k, which should get her to the NCAA East prelim in Indiana. Although she didn't make the final in the 100, I was impressed with Quinn in the 100."
Ramos ran a 34:15.77 in the 10k to beat out 16 other finishers and collect the first ECAC track & field crown of her career. Her time broke a meet record (34:16.35) that was last set in 1980. She was well ahead of JMU's second-place finisher (35:36.98). Ramos now has an opportunity to compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet in Bloomington, Ind. in two weeks.
Siobhan O'Sullivan scored three points for the Bison and moved up the all-time performances list in shot put. She finished sixth and posted a 46-7.25 to climb one spot to fifth all-time. Also adding points for Bucknell was Mia Bellucci, whose 17:07.34 in the 5000 was good enough for fifth at the meet.
Meghan Quinn moved up the all-time top 10 list in the 100, running it in 12 seconds flat to rank third all-time. She previously was fourth on Bucknell's list. Her time on Saturday put her just outside the finals at 10th.
Events continue at the ECAC championships on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
