LEWISBURG, Pa. – For a third time this academic year, Bucknell women's track & field senior Michaela Bracken has been named the Bison of the Week after breaking the school's 400-meter hurdles record at the 2022 Outdoor Patriot League Championships on Friday and earning a silver medal in the event on Saturday. She added a bronze medal as part of Bucknell's 4x400 relay team.
Bracken, who previously ranked third on Bucknell's all-time top 10 performances list for the 400 hurdles, ran a 1:00.52 to place first in the preliminaries and surpass the previous school record (1:00.68) set by Jen Silvestri in 2016. Bracken previously ranked third in the record book with the 1:00.98 she ran at the Bucknell Team Challenge in April.
In Saturday's finals, Bracken clocked a 1:00.81 for the second-place finish to earn eight points for the Bison. She was .21 seconds behind Boston University's Emma Montoya.
Bracken ran the first leg of Bucknell's 4x400 relay on Saturday, and the team placed third with a 3:50.58. She narrowly missed out on points in the high jump, finishing 10th with a 5-4.25.
Bracken was named Bison of the Week in December after breaking the school pentathlon record, and she received the honor again two weeks ago for moving up the top 10 lists in 400 hurdles and high jump.
As a team, the Bison came in fourth at the championship meet, and they resume competition this weekend at the Outdoor ECAC Championships.
