Men’s Golf Off to Slow Start at Patriot League Championship

RESULTS
HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Bucknell men's golf team had a tough opening day at the Patriot League Championship, posting a 311 team score to fall to eighth place in the standings. Jason Lohwater and Michael Rudnick paced the Bison with 4-over-par 76s at the Steel Club.
Lohwater birdied the opening hole, then had a run of three straight birdies at holes 13-15. Rudnick made two birdies on the way to his 76, and the Bison duo sit in a tie for 18th place on the individual leaderboard.
Jack Gardner followed with a 79, and Blake Wisdom, Jackson Bussell, and Josh Holtschlag all shot 80 in the play-6, count-4 format.
Host Lafayette and Loyola are tied for the team lead after posting 294s. Lehigh and Holy Cross are tied for third at 297, followed by Colgate (299), Army (301), Navy (304), and Bucknell.
Only two players broke par on a breezy day in the Lehigh Valley. Lafayette's Ryan Tall posted a 3-under 69 and is two strokes clear of Holy Cross' Christian Emmerich. Four others sit at even par.
Bucknell will be paired with Navy for round two on Saturday, with tee times starting at 8 a.m.
