WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Bucknell women's track & field team wrapped up a fantastic weekend at the Colonial Relays at William & Mary with a third-place finish, scoring 73.5 points. The Bison were just outside the top two teams, as William & Mary took second with 74.5 points, and Virginia took first with 80.
"It was a very good weekend for our ladies, and we were just 7.5 points from winning the meet. Of course, we can all look back and find those 7.5 points, however, we also had others step up and perform above our expectations, but I'm sure others can say that as well. I believe this meet brought our team together closer, which I believe is an important part of our culture. Our relays were fantastic, especially the 4x100, 4x400 and the DMR, with two second-place finishes and a first place, respectively," said head coach Kevin Donner.
Bucknell's relay teams scored huge points at the meet, and the distance medley relay team was most impressive with a first-place finish. Lucie Kubinski, Meghan Quinn, Mackenzie Turner and Ashlyn Ramos combined to run an 11:55.58 to contribute 10 points to the Bison effort.
The 4x100 and 4x400 teams were also outstanding, as both finished second overall to give Bucknell a combined 16 points. In the 4x100, Bridget Lalonde, Quinn, Gianna Macones and Karen Hull ran a 47.23, ranking seventh on Bucknell's all-time top 10 list.
Jessie Castellano, Mackenzie Turner, Mikayla Horvath and Lalonde made up the 4x400 team that finished second with a 3:47.91. The group ran the sixth-fasted time in school history after impressing in the event during the indoor ECAC meet.
Another relay team that scored at the meet was the 4x1500, which took fifth with a 19:37.29. Abigail Paczewski, Sarah Policano, Eva Lindner and Mia Bellucci made up the squad that grabbed four points.
Along with her contributions to the relays, Hull also scored a single point for the Bison in the 100 hurdles, taking eighth with a 14.67.
In the unseeded events, Lexi Gray placed fifth in the triple jump (37-2.25), and Abby Whittaker was fifth in the discus (132-11).
Up next, Bucknell travels to Bethlehem, Pa. next Saturday for the Lehigh Invite.
