RESULTS
VILLANOVA, Pa. – Blake Wisdom carded a 2-over-par 72 on the way to his third top-10 finish in five starts this spring, and the Bucknell men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Villanova at Radnor Valley Country Club.
Wisdom backed up his first-round 73 with Monday's 72, putting him in a tie for eighth place in a field of 80 players. Wisdom made 15 pars and a birdie, including 13 straight pars to begin his final round. He lowered his team-best spring scoring average to 72.4.
As a team, Bucknell has finished in the top five in four of its five spring events and is playing well heading into the Patriot League Championship, which is up next on the schedule.
Freshman John Bradbeer finished strong with a 74, matching senior Jason Lohwater for the second-best card on the squad on Monday. Jack Gardner followed with a 75, including a team-best four birdies, and Jackson Bussell shot 79. Bucknell shot 295 as a team after opening with 292 a day earlier.
Marquette used a final-round 285 to pull away and win the team title by 16 strokes over runner-up Long Island. Rider and St. John's tied for third, and Bucknell edged Patriot League rival Lafayette by two shots for the final spot in the top five.
Hunter Eichhorn of Marquette posted rounds of 68-69 for a 3-under total of 137. That was good for a one-shot win over Delaware's Sahasawat Ariyachatvakin. Marquette's Tyler Leach was third at 1-under.
The Patriot League Championship will be hosted by Lafayette at the Steel Club in Hellertown, Pa., on Apr. 29-May 1.
