HAMILTON, N.Y. – After six and a half scoreless innings, Colgate hit a walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Bucknell softball 1-0 on Sunday. The loss dropped the Bison to 0-3 against the Raiders this weekend and put an end to the series.
Kelly Toomey allowed just three hits total in the game while walking two and striking out one. Ava Aguilar posted Bucknell's only hit of the game, and three others reached on a walk and a pair of hit-by-pitches.
Jillian Herbst posted two of Colgate's three hits, and Steph Jacoby hit the game-winning home run.
Bucknell's first eight batters of the game were retired in order before Annabella Hawkins reached on a walk in the bottom of the third. The Bison got two runners on in the bottom of the fourth after Nicole Rivait and Chase Knapp were both hit by pitches.
The Raiders led off the bottom of the first with a single, but it was their last hit until the sixth inning.
Bucknell was looking to send the game into extra innings in the bottom of the seventh after the first batter flied out to left field, but Jacoby put an end to the weekend with her homer to left center in the next at-bat.
Colgate's Bailey Misken received the win after throwing the complete game shutout and improved to 8-10 on the season.
Bucknell returns home on Tuesday, April 19 to host Pitt at Becker Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
