Women's Tennis Downed by Army West Point

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team was downed by Army West Point, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Central PA Tennis Center.
The Bison (12-8, 3-3 PL) were topped by the Black Knights (22-9, 5-2 PL) in a match that was moved indoors due to inclement weather. The teams played to clinch.
The morning before the match, Bucknell recognized senior captain Daniela Bellini for her contributions to the program at the Varsity Tennis Courts. The two-time All-Patriot League selection currently boasts a career singles record of 49-25, with all of her matches coming on the top court. Her 49 victories are good for 17th in school history.
Against the Black Knights, Bellini and first-year partner Whitney King gave seniors Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent, the 2021 Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year, a battle on the top court. The duo ultimately ceded a tight 6-4 decision, which represented only their fourth loss of the season. Their record now stands at a sterling 21-4, one win shy of cracking the program's single-season top 10.
At third doubles, Tyne Miller and Laurel Utterback, both sophomores, took Army West Point seniors Paola Bou and Sam DiMaio to the wire. Bou and DiMaio ultimately pulled out a 7-6 win.
Utterback and Cooper Jackson were about to enter a third set when the match was clinched with a Black Knight victory at second singles. Utterback won the first set, 6-3.
The Bison next close the regular season tomorrow with a 1 p.m. non-conference match at Towson.
