Men’s Tennis Cruises to 6-1 Win at Loyola

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Bucknell men's tennis team captured the doubles point along with five straight-set wins in singles on the way to a 6-1 Patriot League victory at Loyola on Sunday afternoon. The Bison have now won four of their last five matches and improved to 3-2 in conference play.
Nick Mueller, Michael Owen, Tim Zelikovsky, and Nicolas Grunig all won twice for the Bison. Mueller, typically Bucknell's No. 2 player, slid up to No. 1 in the singles lineup and picked up his first win this season in the lead spot. Mueller downed Skyler Gates 6-2, 6-1.
Owen was a 6-0, 6-4 winner over Edik Pribitkin in the No. 2 slot, and Tim Zelikovsky followed with a 6-4, 6-2 verdict over Matt Cardano at No. 3. It was Zelikovsky's 12th straight singles win and upped his season records to 19-7 overall and 13-4 in duals.
Grunig at No. 4 and Charlie Nordahl at No. 6 were also straight-set singles winners, with Nordahl taking a first-set tiebreaker by a 7-1 count against Ryan Boland.
Owen and Zelikovsky teamed up for a 6-2 victory at first doubles, and Mueller and Grunig locked in the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2.
The Bison are back in action next Saturday at Lafayette at 12 p.m.
