About the Bison
• 25 Bison will be making the trip to Boston to compete at the 100th IC4A Championships this weekend. Events begin for Bucknell on Friday with the heptathlon and will run through Sunday.
• The Bison are coming off a fifth-place finish at the Patriot League Indoor Championships, which were held by Bucknell at the Gerhard Fieldhouse. Bucknell saw strong finishes with its relay teams and had several athletes score in individual events, including two in the 400 and two in triple jump.
• The IC4A Championships were not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Bison return several athletes that competed in the meet in the past. Kevin Boyle, Aiden Brewer, Matt Cervon, Seth Hoffritz, Thomas Matsumura, Brendan O'Toole and Anthony Zamarra are all Bison that appeared at the indoor IC4As in the past.
• Bucknell's 4x400 relay team (Rayven Sample, Colby Belczyk, Caleb Wooten, Ethan Wolford-Tuffy) placed fourth four (3:20.16) at the league championships and will be competing again this weekend. Wolford-Tuffy and Sample also scored in the 400 last weekend, and both will run the event on Saturday.
• Junior Anthony Zamarra, who took fourth (54-10.25) at the league championships in shot put last weekend, will make his return to the IC4As after placing 15th in 2020. Also in the throws last weekend, sophomore Robert Feeney entered Bucknell's all-time top 10 with a 58-8 in weight throw and will attend his first IC4A Indoor Championships.
• Rookie Tristan An, who scored in high jump (7th, 6-5.5) on Sunday, and senior Franco Perinotti, who took second in the heptathlon pole vault (15-8.25) are both making their indoor IC4A debuts this weekend.Â
• Joining An as rookies attending the meet in their first seasons are Colby Belczyk, Grant Ellis, Bobby Lynam and Ben Santos.
• Brewer will kick off the weekend in the heptathlon on Friday. The senior placed eighth in the event at the 2020 IC4As, winning the heptathlon 1000.
• As a team, Bucknell placed 16th of 35 with 12 points at the 2020 IC4A Indoor Championships. The Bison finished 19th of 32 in the outdoor meet last spring.
